Dr. Park completed his bachelor's and master's degrees at Seoul National University and received his Ph.D. in Motor Neuroscience at the University of Florida. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) and Northwestern University. Prior to joining UIUC, he served on the faculty at the University of Houston. Dr. Park is currently an Assistant Professor and Director of the Motor Neuroscience and Neurorehabilitation Laboratory (MoNeL) in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research is driven by the goal of enhancing walking ability in individuals with stroke and spinal cord injury through novel, innovative interventions. Specifically, his lab employs transcutaneous spinal stimulation, visual feedback, and mechanical perturbations to not only restore locomotor function but also to elucidate the complex neurophysiological mechanisms underlying gait improvement and motor learning.
